07 November 2023I will be using the mig 180 for mostly diy projects and to learn the art of mig welding. I would recommend it to any of my friends without any concern and professional's alike. The welder it's self is really well made and robust all metal wire feed mechanism and strong earth clamp and nice **/torch, I also purchased the mma lead which in turn is strong and robust, all round a big thumbs up from me.

05 November 2023I have found the mig 180 excellent part from one thing. It has a digital display which I assumed was to display the settings that are selected by the user. When I found it didn’t I queried it and was told it was for calibration purposes. Maybe that could be improved on future models. The quality seems good and ideal for the hobbyist and car mechanic at a competitive price.

05 May 2023So far so good. Can’t fault this machine at the moment. I’ve only used it on thin gauge car body panels at the moment but it’s performed perfectly. I’ll wait to see how it goes on thicker material. This machine would be good for both beginners and trained professionals alike. So far the quality is spot on. Only time will tell how it holds up to regular use. Tho I have no doubt it will be fine.

31 January 2022I bought the mig180 for home use, I opted for the shop soiled unit as it was discounted but to be honest its as good as new and it's hard to see any damage. I would recommend this to any hobby enthusiast.

It’s been a long time since I’ve done any welding and it’s night and day compared to the old hobby machine I previously struggled with. This rtech 180 makes my work look good!

28 January 2022I bought this welder to replace my 20 year old *** 151TE Turbo. Whilst your MIG180 machine works very well by comparison, I do not like the power control knob. On the 151 there is a six stage power control, with definite clicks between each stage, which gives a precise confirmation of the power level selected, which I much prefer. My other gripe is that on my R-Tech TIG welder (Digital AC/DC 170), I can precisely dial in the amperage I want, whereas on the MIG180 I have to actually start welding to "see" the amperage reading on the machine, which is almost useless, as I do not like welding whilst looking in a different direction (it's also hardly safe to do so!). Otherwise, I like the quality of the product especially for the price!

18 October 2021I am a hobbyist but this piece of kit would not be out of place in any serious workshop. Looks and works really well.I ordered an R-Tech 180 MIG welder with a few accessories on Wednesday, delivered to Northern Ireland Friday. Previous experience has been gas and electric arc welding albeit over 20 years ago, never used a MIG welder before. Got all setup and did a few test welds, really impressed myself with the quality, a super piece of kit, I couldn’t be happier with the purchase and the discussions I had with R-Tech sales before I ordered. May have cost a bit more than some being advertised but it’s definitely worth the extra. Ready for some serious work.

08 June 2021I primarily purchased this for car bodywork. I recommend the product to my colleagues who are in the trade. So far the quality seems to be good although I have had some difficulty setting the feed rollers. I’ve lost several lengths of wire which just screwed up in the chamber. I may get back to you on this if it’s still a problem in the future. Some information on setting this control/dial to adjust the tension of the rollers on the food wire would be useful but cannot find much anywhere on this even in the videos.

I have not set the machine up yet, however, I have no doubt that when I do it will work well as all the reviews & tests show. It will be used for classic car restoration & general DIY use. 26 February 2021I’m new to welding but following the set-up as detailed in the instructions, I was away in a couple of hours doing some half decent welds and enjoying every minute. As for it being “shop soiled”, I genuinely couldn’t see what was wrong with it. It looked new.

26 October 2020After a disappointing experience with a Hyundai HYMIG-200 which didn't work out of the box, I invested a fair bit more and bought the MIG 180 together with 2 years extended warranty. I now have the guarantee of 5 years' fixed-cost welding. I find the MIG 180 very easy to set up and use - well supported by others on YouTube! Although I find *** ***' presentations and language a bit abrasive for my taste, he does (eventually) get the message across. I like the MIG 180 and if it's in your budget range, I would recommend it.

10 May 2019I checked over the machine and contents of the box and all seem high quality, I struggled to find why it had been sold as "shop soiled" with the tiniest of scuffs on the outer casing which I would've excepted as brand new, since buying the machine I've done some research and it's one of the best welders I can find on the net within the price range (I work backwards) that was the week I was buying a welder and a friend who's a coded welder put R-tech forward, looking at all the switch gear and connections everything is high quality and robust, my previous welding experience has been with poor welders on no-gas with scars to prove it so I can't wait to see if I can weld or not with a good welder

26 March 2019Replaced my Snap-On MIG welder which is now very long in the tooth, same very portable size and weight but 50% more power. The wire feed is much more sophisticated and smoother/more consistent despite a brand new liner in the Snap-On. In addition the trigger is considerably lighter and more accurate, it's a real pleasure to work with on sheet metal once it's dialled in, it seems to arc up a good weld puddle almost instantly giving really nice results when welding intermittently, nice flush finish on butt welds with a gap equal to the sheet thickness. I just love it, I can only assume being digital Vs my old (old!) transformer based Snap-On it's got some electrical trickery working to arc up quicker/smoother and more consistently some how. I'm looking for projects and things to weld just for the fun of it!

27 August 2018I bought the mig for my VW T25 restoration project I will also use it in my custom motorbike projects, I have rtech Tig and plasma already, At first I've put it in gasless mode as I'll be welding outside and it's only a 2 minute job to swap over. I like how it goes 5 amps lower than competitors for thin sheet steel work, the torch is good quality and the cable is a metre longer than most and will save having to move the machine around all the time. The wire feed is top notch quality and it takes a 5kg reel with ease and is still very. compact. The first few lines I've pulled are very promising and controls are easy and can be fine tuned

31 May 2018I weld mainly thin steel sheet up to 5mm thick , i can reccomend the wel it is far superior than the B.O.C. mig turbo it replaced far better. welds and quick with a good range of power settings, very good quality apart from the caseing could do with strenthening a couple more bolts on top panel near the hinges will do it,
